JACK PATE President and Publisher, Evansville Courier & PressBiography
Jack Pate graduated in 1982 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. While in Pennsylvania, he worked as an Intern in the Circulation and Retail Departments at The Pittsburgh Press. After graduation, he moved to Hollywood, Florida, and went to work with the Hollywood Sun Tattler where he held numerous positions that included Classified and Retail Outside Sales, Retail Zone Manager, Classified Manager, Advertising Manager and Circulation Sales Manager. He moved to Evansville in 1989 as Classified Advertising Manager and became Advertising Director in 1993. Pate was promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing in 1998. He was named President and Publisher of the San Angelo Standard-Times in San Angelo, Texas in March of 2000. Jack was promoted to his current position as Publisher and President of the Evansville Courier & Press July 1st, 2004.
Pate carries on a family tradition of newspapering dating back to his Great-Great Grandfather who transported a printing press from Tennessee to Oklahoma by covered wagon. His family still owns several small newspapers in Oklahoma.
Pate is a Past President of several organizations that include the Indiana Classified Manager’s Association (ICAMA), the Evansville Better Business Bureau, and the Mississippi Valley Classified Manager’s Association (MVCMA). He is also the Past Flotilla Commander of the Newburgh Flotilla of The Coast Guard Auxiliary, and served as a board member of Center City Corp. Jack was also a member of the Evansville Morning Rotary Club for 10 years.
He was a member of several non profit boards in San Angelo that include the United Way of the Concho Valley serving as campaign chair and board chairman, West Texas REHAB, Leadership San Angelo Alumni Association, San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, City of San Angelo Economic Development Corporation, Texas Daily Newspaper Association, Community Network, Project Janus, ASU Foundation, San Angelo Industries, and was the Downtown Rotary Club of San Angelo.
Jack is currently a board member and past president of the Hoosier State Press Association, serving as a board member for the USI Foundation, St. Mary’s Foundation, Evansville Arc, Youth Resources, Evansville Regional Business Committee, Economic Development Coalition, Metropolitan Evansville Chamber of Commerce, Spencer County Chamber of Commerce, University of Evansville Business and Engineering Advisory Council, and the Old National Evansville Community Bank Board. He also serves as a member of the Alcoa Community Advisory board, the Ivy Tech Advisory board and United Way of Southwestern Indiana Campaign Cabinet.
He is married and has three children ages 18, 16 and 11. |
